Rune-Lite is Reset!
Here's what's new!
First, RUNETown has been implemented to replace Towny. This will hopefully reduce lag and give us a plugin we can adjust to the server's needs. Second, guests will no longer be able to break blocks using tools and they will not be able to loot town chests. Third, ores will not spawn in rune-lite: Instead, ores will drop randomly from normal stone. Lastly, skills are reset to provide a means of income.
Note: PVP and Encumberance are disabled for 24h.
Warning: You may spawn in a random location in RUNE-Lite
What is Rune-Town?
Runetown is designed to be a simple and reasonably effecient replacement for Towny.
Most (all) town mangement is done through commands (see below).
There are two types of structures in Runetown: RuneTown and RuneNation.
A RuneTown is a collection of people who all have equal building and destroying rights in a set area that belongs to the town.
A RuneNation is a collection of towns that acts as a sort of alliance system.
Every Town belongs to a Nation, even if it is the only town in said nation.
Members of one town cannot build in an allied town (a town belonging to the same Nation).
Both Towns and Nations have their own banks, but these banks can only hold whole number amounts of currency (i.e. no "cents" only whole "dollars").
Money can be deposited into these banks by any player belonging to the town/nation.
Money can only be withdrawn from a nation by the mayor of the capital (dictator).
Money can be withdrawn from a town bank by any council member or the mayor.
The leadership of Towns is a dictatorship: a supreme ruler (mayor) has access to all town commands.
He can elect council members who have access to most town commands.
A RuneNation is ruled exclusively by the mayor of the capital town of the city.
A RuneTown is started via commands and also expands via commands (see below).
The cost of expansion increases as more land is aquired. Once land is claimed, it cannot be unclaimed unless the town gets disbanded.
Council members are able to add land onto the town.
The money for expansion is taken out of the pocket of the person who uses the command.
Land can only be claimed if it is next to land that is already owned by the town.
All towns must be aproximately 80 blocks (configurable) away from each other.
NOTE ABOUT CHESTS AND HOW THEIR PROTECTIONS WORK:
Chests within towns are protected once a certain time period (default: 30 min) has passed since the last member of that town was online.
If the server restarts, all chests in every town defaults as protected.
Once someone belonging to that town comes online, all chests within the town are no longer protected.
Protected chests cannot be opened. Standard protection of blocks applies to chests regardless of protection, meaning they cannot be destoryed by hand.
They can be destroyed (and thus opened) via TNT if placed poorly.
Rune-Lite Commands:
Commands:
All commands are actually "sub-commands" of the /runetown command.
The format of every command is thus "/runetown [command] [arguments]".
Instead of typing "/runetown" every time, you can simply write "/rt" as a shortuct.
For example: "/rt join" would be the "join" runetown command.
Argument format:
(optional)
<required>
appoint <name> - Allows a town mayor to appoint someone else, by the name of <name>, as mayor. If the town is also the capital of the nation it belongs to, then this person will also become the dictator of the nation.
claim (auto|off) - When used, the 8x8 block the person is standing on will attempt to be claimed by the town. Certain rules apply, such as the 80 block distance rule, see previous text for more information. The act of claiming costs money, which will be taken from the player who used the command. The amount of money it costs depends on how much land the town already owns. If "auto" is added onto the command (e.x. "/rt claim auto") then the server will automaically cause you to type the command every time you switch into a different 8x8 area. This action purposefully spams you to remind you to be careful when walking around. The server will stop typing the command for you once you issue a "/rt claim off". If an invalid phrase is given (e.x. "apple" instead of "auto") the server will assume you meant to say "/rt claim off".
town <name> - Creates a new town with a given name. This new town will automatically join a nearly created nation called "Nation of <name>". In the event of a name collision, the nation name is changed to random numbers. The home block of the created town will be the 8x8 plot on which the command user is standing. Standard distance rules (see "claim" command) apply.
deposit <amount> - Deposits <amount> of money into the town bank to which a player belongs. Upon doing so, a message is sent to the town notifying everyone of the transaction.
exepl <name> - Removes <name> from the town. If <name> is a council member, only the mayor is allowed to expel him/her. Council members are able to expel non-council members from the town.
info (name) - Displays basic information about a certain town and the nation that town belongs to. If no (name) is provided, the town the player belongs to is used.
invite <name> - Allows the mayor or council members to invite <name> to join the town. This person must not be a member of any town at the time of being invited.
join (name) - Joins a town that has invited you (see above). If no (name) is provided, the last town who attempted to invite you is assumed.
leave - leaves the town you currently belong to.
list - displays every town and nation currently registered on the server.
join (name) - Command used to join a town after the town has invited you. If no name is provided, the system assumes you wish the join the town that has most recently invited you.
map (on|off|toggle) - Displays a basic map of the surrounding area, including the home blocks of towns. If "/rt map on" is used, the map will be re-sent every time you move out of an 8x8 area into a new 8x8 area.
rename <newname> - Changes the name of a town to <newname>. Only the mayor is allowed to use this command. Spaces (' ') are not allowed in town names.
sethome - Changes the home block of a town to the current block being standed on. This block must already have been claimed by the town. Council members are allowed to use this command.
tax <amount> - Changes the tax rate being charged to all citizens of the town. If citizens are unable to afford to pay the town, they are expeled from the town. Council members and the mayor will not be expeled from the town in this manner.
home - Teleports you back to the home block of your town.
promote <name> - Declares <name> a council member of the town. Only the mayor is allowed to use this command.
war <name> - Declare war on the NATION whoose name is <name>. Can only be used by a nation's dictator. The cost for declaring war is taken directly from the player using the command.
endwar - Ends a war previously declared by "war". Can only be used by the dictator of the nation who initially used the war command.
withdrawl <amount> - Take out <amount> of money from the town bank. Can be used by council members.
Nation-based commands:
*** Unless otherwise noted, only the dictator of a nation can use these commands.
nappoint <name> - Set a different town as the capital, which also changes the dictator. <name> refers to the name of the town you wish to appoint. This town must already be a member of the nation.
ndeposit <amount> - May be used by any member of the nation. Deposits money into the nation's bank.
nexpel <name> - Expells a town from the nation. This town will automatically create a new nation and join it.
ninvite <name> - Invites a town to join the nation. This action costs money which is taken from the nation's bank.
njoin (name) - Joins a nation which previously invited you. Used by the mayor of a town that wishes to join a nation. If (name) is not specified, assumes you are trying to join the last nation that invited you.
nleave - Used by the mayor of a town to leave their nation. Can only be used if the town is not a capital of the nation it's attempting to leave.
nrename <newname> - Changes the name of the nation. Spaces are allowed in nation names.
ntax (name) <tax> - Changes the tax rate charged to towns that belong to the nation. If no (name) is specified, the tax rate is applied to every town that belongs to the nation. Taxes may be set individually for each town, unlike the town equilivent of this command.
nwithdrawl <amount> - Takes money out of the nation's bank.
How does Taxing work in RUNETown?
The taxing system in RuneTown is a direct tax on all RuneNations.
They are taxed based on the number of people in the town, the land owned by the town, the number of nations in the town, and other similiar statistics.
These can be configured via the config file.
The dictator of the nation sets the tax rate for the towns manually, the default value is no taxing.
If a Nation does not have enough money to pay the server, the Nation is disbanded and all member towns are also disbanded.
During this process, all money that may have been in the town banks is destroyed.
If a town cannot afford the tax placed onto it by the nation, it is disbanded.
The exception to this rule is if the town is also the capital: the capital will not get disbanded unless the nation itself is disbanded.
How do wars work in RUNETown?
Wars take place only between Nations.
Declaring war costs a significant amount of money.
Once started, wars come with a heavy price: the tax for attacking nations increases dramatically (3x) and the tax for attacked nations is also increased, but not as much (1.5x).
These numbers are also configurable. A war is never won, it only ends.
A war may end when either the attacker decides to end the war or one of the nations involved in the war gets disbanded.
If a defending nation's bank reaches $0, all towns in said nation become vulrenable to take-over.
A council member from the capital town of the attacking nation may assume control of a town by placing a sign on the home block of the town which states "victory" somewhere in the first line.
A defending nation is also able to take over a town from an attacking nation under the same circumstances - there is no difference between the "attacker" and "defender" except in the added tax rate and ability to end the war.
During war, money may be stolen from the "other" nation by either attacking a home block or by attacking members (people) of the "other" nation. To attack a home block, go to a town belonging to the nation and attempt to destory blocks on said town's home block.
The action will be denied, but no error message will be reported.
Every time you attempt to destory 1 block, $1 will be taken from the "other" nation's bank and placed in your nation's bank.
Every time a person is killed by an enemy, the losing nation loses $20 and the enemy nation gains $16.
These values are also configurable.
While at war, all towns involved cannot claim land.
